Social experiments are a popular sub-genre of videos often featured on YouTube. For example, does a nerd have a chance to score on a Tinder date? How are fat people treated by their dates? Unfortunately most of these videos lack a satisfying conclusion, so we had to come up with the conclusion ourselves. A certain risk people take when meeting their partner in real life is when they look different from their profile page. In these scenarios an outdated photo is usually to blame, but does being fatter than on the image really matter that much?
Spoiler alert: only for guys.

A few years ago, the concept of online dating was pretty alien and off-putting to me. There are beautiful people practically all around us, I thought. This made so much sense to me. So I decided to go completely out of my dating comfort zone and do an extreme social experiment. How would you react if your date wanted to go skydiving with you the first time you met?
I think how someone reacts to surprising situations can offer a unique glimpse into their psyche.

Watch What Happens When a Skinny Girl Wears Fat Suit on Tinder Dates [VIDEO]
So what is happening? Well, this is my story. Bodies are a significant part of how subjects connect to each other. I meant the commodified bodies, each of us trying our best to conform to certain standards so that we can be bought and sold in a matrix of value and privilege.
Here’s the interesting thing about this whole social experiment of online dating: At this point, it has turned into being less about finding a decent date and more.
Who’s more shallow on Tinder: men or women? You may not be surprised by the results of this gender experiment, but it doesn’t make it any less appalling. Dating site Simple Pickup is behind the experiment, in which they had an attractive, thin girl wear a fat suit on a number of first Tinder dates and then did the same thing with a guy in the fat suit. In the first video, the guys, predictably, are not happy with the switch-up, with responses varying from awkwardly calling her out for not looking like her photos to getting angry with her for “lying” before storming off.
One guy even ditches her middate, saying he just needed to use the restroom. When the roles are reversed and it’s a guy in the fat suit, the women are polite, tactful, and engaging. They don’t treat him like garbage. In fact, they all stick it out for the full date, giving him advice on what to do in the city and joking around with him, and one even plants a kiss on him at the end. Let this be a valuable lesson: women are awesome.
If you’re a Tinder user who’s ever wondered what matches look like for the opposite sex, look no further. The crew at whatever created two profiles using the photos of an attractive man and woman with their permission. In other words, both Brian and Briana fake names were located in Los Angeles, CA, looking for a match within miles, of the respective opposite sex, between the ages of 18 and Once the profiles were created, experimenters swiped right on 1, consecutive profiles for Brian and Briana with no method to their madness whatsoever.
This is where Tinder Social comes in handy: You tag a couple people you know on of Los Angeles; or maybe I’d just give some people a surreal experience.
Most people download Tinder optimistically, but after months of withering matches and sleepwalking conversations, you might be motivated to join forces with a few of your friends and hope to run into a few other people suffering from a lack of adventure. This is where Tinder Social comes in handy: You tag a couple people you know on Facebook and form a “group,” and other groups can examine your group and decide if they want to swipe right.
If the interest is mutual, you’re dropped into a massive group chat where you can coordinate whatever you want—like, for instance, an orgy. A few weeks ago, I came up with the incredibly stupid idea to use Tinder Social with a “group” of “friends” who were really just different versions of me. Through a combination of burner phone numbers and fake email addresses, I constructed four Tinder profiles, each with specific pictures of me that represent a radical extension of who I am.
Then I united them in one Tinder Social group.

Makes sense, right? First, let me start by giving you a weekly update on my social experiment of online dating, or at least tell you what has happened over the last week. The logic behind this tactic was simple: It only makes sense that the wider I spread the net, the luckier I might be. I was talking with a girlfriend recently who got lucky in her experience with online dating—but she was in her 40s when it happened.
Why is this significant?
Two friends decided to do a social experiment with the online dating app for mobile devices, Tinder. The experiment had a woman and a man.
By Carly Stern For Dailymail. An year-old woman created a fake profile to go undercover on Tinder to see what it’s really like for men on dating apps — and she was shocked to discover that it was not as easy as she imagined. YouTuber Alexander Grace teamed up with his friend Sada for the social experiment, providing her with photos of himself to use for her fake Tinder profile. Sada admitted that she thought it would be ‘easy peasy’ to get matches with Alex’s pictures, and assumed she’d be lining up dates in no time — but she was discouraged to get fewer matches than she thought, and even more frustrated to be met with radio silence when she would initiate conversation.
Faux profile: YouTuber Alexander Grace teamed up with his friend Sada for the social experiment and gave her photos of himself to use. When Alex proposed the experiment, he asked Sada to set up a profile as a man seeking women on Tinder. He gave her three of his own photos, and left her to write the bio information, choose who to swipe on, and send messages. Sada said that first impression was that it would be easy to get matches because Alex is attractive, but Alex quickly told her that she was going to find more difficulty than she anticipated.
Sada quickly got to work setting up the profile, explaining to YouTube viewers that she wanted to be ‘very direct and also smooth in the approach. She wrote his bio to read: ‘Hi, my name is Alex. I live and work in Lisbon as a psychologist.
At the same time, Tinder CEO Elie Seidman says he and his team are focusing on how to keep young people coming to the app and how they can build digital relationships inside of it, especially as in-person dates slow down.

In fact, this is now one of the most popular ways heterosexual couples meet. Online dating provides users with access to thousands , sometimes millions, of potential partners they are otherwise unlikely to encounter.
It is fascinating to see how online dating — with its expanded dating pools — transforms our dating prospects. Can we broaden our social network to a variety of backgrounds and cultures by accessing thousands of profiles? Or do we limit our choice of partners through targeted searches and strict preference filters? When photos are readily available for users to evaluate before they decide to chat online or meet offline, who can say that love is blind?
Before I started my research project about online dating in Canada, I did a micro social experiment with my partner. We created two profiles on a mainstream dating app for heterosexuals: one was a profile for a man that used two of his photos — an Asian man — and the other profile was for an Asian woman and used two of my photos. Each profile included a side-face photo and an outdoor portrait wearing sunglasses. One reason we used side-face photos and self-portraits with sunglasses was to avoid the issue of appearance.
